Terms of Service
Welcome to Scientific Veterinary Consulting (referred to herein as “SVC”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By accessing or using our online platform, including our website, resources, courses, workshops, presentations, assessments, meetings, webinars and other services (collectively referred to as the “Services”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). Please read these Terms carefully before using our Services.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Services. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and SVC.
2. Access to Services
- Eligibility: You must be at least 18 years old to use our Services. By accessing or using our Services, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old.
- Registration: In order to access certain features of our Services, you will be required to register for an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.
- Duration of Access: Some of our Services have a limited access-period during which you can access the Service and any of its associated materials or resources. The default access-period for paid online courses is one (1) year from the date of gaining access to the course, which may be extended by purchasing the relevant individual or group package for extension of the access-period.
- Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account or any other breach of security. You are not permitted to share your account login details with any other parties, nor to provide access to any other parties to any content or Services (including courses, assessments, resources or workshops) for which you are the registered user.
3. Use of Services
- License: Subject to these Terms, SVC grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to access and use our Services for your personal and non-commercial use.
- Content: You acknowledge that all content available through our Services, including but not limited to courses, workshops, assessments, videos, text, images, and other materials (collectively, “Content”), is owned by SVC or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Content may be updated at any time, with or without notice, effective immediately.
- Prohibited Conduct: You agree not to:
- Use our Services for any illegal or unauthorised purpose;
- Share any content for which you are a registered user with any other parties, including not allowing other parties to view or access such content on our website.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of our Services;
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our Services or any related systems or networks;
- Transmit any viruses, worms, or other harmful code through our Services; or
- Use our Services in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our servers or networks.
4. Payment and Refunds
- Fees: Certain features of our Services require payment of fees. By selecting a paid feature, you agree to pay SVC the applicable fees and taxes.
- Refunds: We may offer refunds or credits in certain circumstances, as determined by SVC in its sole discretion. Payment for subscription to courses and workshops is non-refundable.
5. Modification of Terms
SVC reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting the revised Terms on our website. Your continued use of our Services after the posting of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
6. Termination
SVC may terminate or suspend your access to all or any part of our Services at any time, with or without notice, effective immediately.
7. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law.
8. Legal Disclaimer
All information provided (including website, workshops, courses, assessments, resources, documents, webinars, meetings, articles, opinions, reports, recommendations or presentations) by SVC are intended for informational purposes only and do not and are not intended to constitute legal advice. Information provided may not constitute the most complete or up-to-date legal or other information. We are not attorneys and our services should not be considered a substitute for legal advice.
Where Services are provided that relate to laws, regulations or rules made thereunder, or to national or international Standards, Guidelines, Codes, or other normative references, it remains your responsibility to read and study the references. Our Services are intended to assist and guide; however, the ultimate responsibility for understanding and complying with these legal, regulatory, and normative documents lies with you. It is essential for you to thoroughly review these documents to ensure full compliance and proper application within your specific context and requirements.
SVC will endeavour to provide correct information. If improper or incorrect information is provided, you will have a total period of 3 months to raise concerns.
The maximum total liability of SVC will be the component of the fee that was charged for the relevant constituent of the Service that was rendered.
9. Protection of Personal Information
We are committed to safeguarding your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (South Africa) (“POPIA”) and applicable international data protection laws. This section outlines how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data.
9.1 Information We Collect
When you register on our platform or interact with our services, we collect the following personal information: your full name, email address, phone number, institution or employer name, professional registration number with regulatory bodies (e.g., SAVC or SACNASP) for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) tracking, and any additional details necessary for course administration and compliance. This information is collected directly from you and is used only for lawful purposes as set out below.
9.2 Purpose of Collection
Your personal information is collected and processed to provide access to our services (including training, courses, and resources), to maintain accurate CPD records for professional development compliance, to communicate important updates and service-related information, to comply with legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements, and to protect our legitimate business interests.
9.3 Consent
By registering on our website or using our services, you consent to the collection, storage, and lawful processing of your personal information as outlined above. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at contact@scientificveterinaryconsulting.com
9.4 Data Sharing
We do not sell or disclose your personal information to unauthorised third parties. We may share data with accredited professional bodies or service providers only where necessary to deliver our services or meet CPD compliance requirements. Under POPIA, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request correction, update, or deletion of your information, object to the processing of your personal information under certain conditions, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator at https://inforegulator.org.za if you believe your data rights have been violated.
